It is a perfect sports car that’s easy to live with on a day-to-day basis.

Body style

The Chevrolet Corvette is a better designed sports car then any other Chevy model. This model comes with a removable body color roof panel which offers twin benefit of open-air motoring on sunny days and the security of fixed hard tops. The body style of the base and premium models are not much different except that the new ZR1 Chevy model includes lightweight carbon fiber on the hood, roof panel, roof bow, front fascia splitter, and rocker moldings. The 2009 Chevrolet model features large mirrors, larger wheels and tires, a more stiffly tuned suspension, upgraded brakes and special sport seats.

The interior body style is also very appealing with leather seating, a six-way power driver seat, a tilting steering wheel and dual-zone automatic climate control which in all make driving fun and enjoyable.

The Z06 was equipped with large mirrors, fixed roof, a lighter frame and body panels, larger wheels and tires, a more stiffly tuned suspension, upgraded brakes and special sport seats. In comparison to the Z06 the ZR1 is better equipped with larger wheels, high-performance carbon-ceramic brakes, an exclusive suspension with adaptive dampers and additional lightweight body panels. The 2009 Corvette model has luxurious interiors, however when you check the minute details you find some cheap plastic panels. Overall the interiors could have been much better and appealing like those available in other luxury cars.

Chevy offers many optional features also for those buyers who are tech savvy. There are many options to choose from the interiors also, like the upgraded leather seating, Bluetooth etc.

Performance

The Chevrolet 2009 keeps up to the Chevy name and is one of the most exciting cars on road. Both Z06and ZR1 feature a 6.2-liter V8 that makes an impressive 430 hp and 424 lb-ft of torque while the optional dual-mode exhaust adds another 6 hp and 4 lb-ft. The Chevrolet Z06 boasts an exotic-class 505 hp and 470 lb-ft from its 7.0-liter V8, while the ZR1 has an otherworldly 638 hp and 604 lb-ft of torque.

We found that Corvette performance was amazing with high power engines which are quite refined. They feature a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, while a six-speed paddle-shifted automatic is available for the base coupe and convertible models.  In the various tests that were conducted we found that a base coupe went from zero to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds whereas the ZR1 does the 0-60-mph sprint in 3.4 seconds.

It was seen that in spite of the abundant power the 2009 Chevy model delivers high fuel economy. The EPA estimates that the base model will get 16 mpg city/26 mpg highway and 19 mpg combined for a manual-transmission Corvette. Opting for the automatic drops these numbers down by 1 mpg. We found that the brakes also performed well and offered good grip to the tires. The Chevrolet Corvette has high performance and offers daily drivability in comparison to any other sports car.

Quality

We found that the Corvette offered abundance of comfort but the interiors could have been better keeping in mind the price tag involved. The corvette is a two seater car with adequate head room and leg space which offers decent level of comfort to the driver and the passenger.

It is generally seen that the sports car do not have much cargo space but the Corvette offers decent cargo space located behind the rear seats. This feature makes this sports car good to be used on a day to day basis.

We found that even though Chevrolet has tried to make changes in terms of interior fit and finish since the debut of the current-generation Corvette they are still not completely perfect. We can find flimsy plastic panels used at various places. They need to make changes in the interiors to keep up with their competitors.

We found certain loud noises such as the growl of a V-8 engine but that is accepted in a sports car. Other unwelcome noises are kept to a manageable level in the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette.

Safety

The Chevrolet Corvette has taken all care to equip the necessary safety features. They boast of taking care of all the safety features you could expect to find on a high-end sports car. They come with antilock disc brakes which come with a superb stability control system known as ‘Active Handling. It provides noninvasive assistance and allows a competitive driving mode that gives the expert driver more flexibility while still maintaining a safety net. We were disappointed to see that head curtain bags were not available. Side-impact airbags are optional on 1LT models and are standard with all other LT packages.

Conclusion

We can conclude that Chevrolet Corvette is an easy and comfortable car to drive. We can easily say that this is one of the most practical sports cars that you could dream of. The high performance engine and the cargo space allotted in this model are definitely worth appreciating. They have kept in record all the high end features that one would desire.

The only drawback that we could list was the flimsy interior. The interiors could be more appealing with a dash of luxury and fineness.
