First Look
The 2010 Buick LaCrosse in simple words has been redesigned, reinvented and reinvigorated. The ovoid styling and spherical body of its previous generations is gone for the model year 2010. The 2010 LaCrosse is a lot more edgy and sharper than its previous models and also boasts a new sporty and absolutely catchy and modern cabin. In terms of size the all new LaCrosse is just about of the same size, except for couple of extra inches of height, but the huge area of latest sheet metal gives a substantial appearance to the car. Even in terms of driving the car is respectable by segment standards. Though, there is not many of hula boo for the debut of the car, but the 2010 LaCrosse is one of the best surprises given by GM in recent times.
What’s New for 2010 Buick LaCrosse?
The 2010 Buick LaCrosse got a completely redesigned interiors and exteriors for the model year 2010. Some of the highlights for the car include new sharper handling, obtainable all-wheel drive, a modified engine lineup which now offers a fuel-efficient four-cylinder engine and styling.
Body Styling and Features
The midsize sedan 2010 Buick LaCrosse is available in three trim levels: CX, CXL and CXS.
The equipment list for the base CX trim includes 17-inch steel wheels, a tilt-telescoping steering wheel with mounted audio controls, a power driver seat, complete power accessories, a seven-speaker audio system having a CD/MP3 player, OnStar, satellite radio and an auxiliary audio jack.
The optional equipments for the CX trim includes Comfort and Convenience package which gets you dual-zone automatic climate control, 17-inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth, an auto-dimming mirror, a power front passenger seat, remote vehicle start and driver power lumbar support.
Moving up to CXL trim will fetch you all the standard and optional equipments of CX and in addition will get you 18-inch alloy wheels, heated mirrors having integrated turn signals, foglamps, leather upholstery and heated front seats. Some other additional options for the CXL models includes yet another Comfort and Convenience package, which includes driver memory settings, auto-dimming side mirrors and rear parking sensors.
The top of the range CXS trim level comes with all the optional and standard equipments listed above and in addition to all those it gets 19-inch alloy wheels. There also is an optional Touring package available for the CXS, which includes adjustable shock absorbers and 19-inch wheels.
Under The Hood
The 2010 Buick LaCrosse will be powered by a 3.0-liter V6 engine and that will be standard for all the trim levels. The V6 engine here will be generating a maximum of 255 horsepower and 217 pound-feet of maximum torque. But later in the year the V6 engine will be replaced by a 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine pumping maximum power of 182-hp and it will be the standard engine on the front-wheel-drive CX trim level. The 3.0 liter V6 engine will then be standard only on CXL models and will be obtainable in either front or all-wheel drive. The CXS trim level will only be available in front-wheel drive having a 3.6 liter V6 engine, which churns maximum of 280 hp and 259 lb-ft of maximum torque. The transmission for all the Buick LaCrosse models will be a six-speed automatic transmission.
The 3.0 liter engine took LaCrosse from 0 to 60 in 8.4 seconds, which although was slower than most of its competitions, but sufficient for many of the divers. The estimated fuel economy combined for in city and highway drive for the LaCrosse will be 20 mpg.
Safety Equipments
The standard safety equipments for 2010 Buick LaCrosse include complete-length side curtain airbags, standard front-seat side airbags, traction and stability control, OnStar communications and antilock disc brakes. The optional safety equipments here include rear-seat side airbags.
Verdict
The 2010 Buick LaCrosse takes a huge leap in terms of styling, features and imposing chassis. The car finally is a strong contender in the viable upscale midsize sedan.
