2010 VW Passat Blue Motion – The New Generation Fuel Economy Car

These days when everybody is feeling the pinch at the gas pumps, automakers are also working at making fuel economy cars. Volkswagen is all set to join this troop with the expansion of its Blue Motion range of fuel efficient car along with the introduction of new models which are designed on the lines of Passat sedan and Golf and Polo hatchbacks.  All car enthusiasts can get a glimpse of these cars at the Frankfurt Auto Show.

The main highlight of these cars will be the Passat Blue Motion which will be released in 2010. This model will be equipped with a 1.6 liter common rail diesel engine which would generate 104 horsepower. This new engine would be offer 54 mpg in comparison to 48 mpg that is derived from the current version. To sum up this new edition would offer 840 miles in one tank.

To add to the better fuel economy the engineers have  made aerodynamic changes with a front new bumper , a lower ride height, relocated air ducts behind the grille elements  and sill  extensions , this would result in less aerodynamics drag which would lead to decreasing the load on the engine and assist in increasing  fuel economy.

The Polo Blue Motion would offer a fuel economy of 71 mpg while the Golf Blue Motion would offer a fuel economy of 62 mpg.

It is estimated that all the three models will go up for sale only Europe next year while the chances of them hitting the US showroom is zilch.
