2011 Honda CRZ Hybrid unveils at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show



After plenty of anticipation, Honda has finally unveiled its latest sport hybrid edition at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show. The 2011 Honda CR-Z edition offers an element of fun along with an impressive styling. It is the first hybrid which offers a perfect combination of style, fun along with impressive fuel efficiency and economy.

This two seat edition has an impressive bodyline which is taller than the CRX. Its rear end bears a strong resemblance to the two seat Honda Insight. The interiors are also impressive with a contemporary design and multi layered instrument panel displays.

The CRZ sports a 1.5 liter four cylinder iVTEC engine which is teamed with Honda’s integrated Motor Assist (IMA) mild hybrid system. The10 kw electric motors works during acceleration, braking and coasting and while recharging the 100 volt nickel metal hydride battery pack. This complete system generates 122hp and 128 pounds feet of torque. It is coupled with six speed manual transmission while a CVT is optionally available. The CVT provides an option of stimulated gear ratio. The 2011 Honda CR-Z offers a fuel economy of 31 mpg city levels, and 37 mpg highways with manual transmission. The CVT model offers a fuel economy of 36 mpg city levels and 38 mpg highway which is better than the manual transmission.

The engineers have designed this edition to offer a sporty handling by featuring rear torsion beam suspension, and low mounting of the battery system and the front stut.

This edition will be available in three mode drive system and will offer an option between Econ, Sport and Normal driving modes.

The 2011 Honda CR-Z will be available in two trims viz. base and EX model. The base edition will feature keyless entry, automatic climate control, cruise control, electronic stability control and a six speaker audio system with USB interface.

The EX edition will additionally include leather trim, fog lamps, HID headlamps, Bluetooth and upgraded 360 watt audio system.  It also offers the option of navigation system with voice recognition.

The Honda CR-Z is also equipped with an array of safety equipments such as side curtain airbags, active head restraints, antilock brakes and electronic stability control.

The latest edition of the 2011 Honda CR-Z will be seen in the showroom by this summer.
