The effects of the rising fuel prices can be directly seen in the sales of automobiles. There are many renowned companies who have started feeling the pinch of declining sales. Customers now prefer to buy smaller cars that are more fuel efficient. To cater to this growing need of the customer’s reputed brands like Mazda have started designing cars to fulfill the needs of the customer.
Mazda is all set to unveil its Mazda2 in the fall of 2010. The Mazda 2 will be available in three and five door hatchback body styles. The sedan version would be limited to some markets only. It is rumored that Mazda 2 will makes its debut at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto show scheduled to be held in December.
This stylish car which adopts the zoom zoom philosophy will be priced at an approximate $16,000.
It is expected that the standard version will feature a 1.5 liter four cylinder gasoline engine which would generate 103 horsepower and 101 pound feet of torque. It is expected that the overseas models would sprint from zero to 60 mph in 10.4 seconds. This edition would offer a fuel mileage of 41mpg in the combined driving cycle test.
The Mazda 2 would offer tough competition to Chevrolet Aveo, Honda Fit, and Toyota Yaris.
