Acura Is Trying To Be Different By Focusing On Fuel Economy

There is a stiff competition between various luxury car brands. Each one is trying to prove them selves and make space for them selves in the market. Each brand is trying to amuse the customer by offering better features, big and powerful engines which would offer better horsepower. Each brand is having a hard time trying to prove to build their image and status. With Lexus and Infiniti both trying hard to grab space by providing powerful engines Acura is moving in the opposite direction. It is trying to focus hard on fuel economy rather than power to differentiate them selves in the luxury car segment.
John Watts senior manager of Acura product planning says that it is hard to hit the 2016 CAFÉ requirement and Acura is moving towards the fuel economy direction.
For many years we have seen that luxury cars have moved ahead battling it out for horsepower and engine output. The luxury cars produced 200- 300 horsepower a decade ago but in the recent times we have seen that the luxury cars now produce 500- 600 horsepower. Lately we have seen that the consumers have tried to stress that they desire a balance between power and economy. With the economy that is trying to stabilize after a long time we have noticed that fuel prices are rising steadily. At this juncture it makes sense to stress for a balance between fuel economy and power.
Acura is trying to take a leap in this direction and is focusing on fuel economy. They have eliminated the V8 engine which was originally developed to feature in Acura RL and MDX. They have moved towards the rear wheel drive platform from the AWD. Acura is trying to adopt hybrid technology instead of high output engines was confirmed by John Watts.
