The news of the failure of the Lagonda concept at the Geneva Motor Show has not diminished from the auto industry when an established player like Aston Martin has decided to revive the Lagonda brand. There are fresh reports of proposed partnership between Aston Martin and Mercedes. They would revive the Lagonda brand on the basis of Mercedes Benz S class. If they work in collaboration it will reduce the working time and also the overall costs which would increase the economies of scale in the formulated longer duration.
It is expected that the company would launch the Lagonda sedan l in 2012 along side the next gen Maybach. It is assumed that it would feature a hybrid powertrain and borrow a W222 platform from the Mercedes S class. It would also feature high tech pre scan suspension technology. As it is built on the lines of the S class, which has already proven its track record, would make this model easily a winner.
Mercedes will use a similar hybrid system which was recently unveiled in the S400 Hybrid , a reworked version of the Maybach’s twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V12 engine.
It has been mutually accepted that the design and body style will be done by the engineers of Aston Martin while the mechanical aspects will be looked after by Mercedes Benz.
