BMW Goes Eco Friendly

These days when everybody is going eco friendly the automotive industry is also not left behind with industry leaders like BMW also moving in a similar direction.
BMW is all set to debut three new models at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show. It is estimated that BMW will unveil the all new Active Hybrid X6, Active Hybrid 7and the dazzling Efficient Dynamic concept car which was lately seen in Frankfurt.
The 2010 BMW Active Hybrid X6 which is peddled as the world’s most powerful hybrid vehicle will pump out 478 hp and 575 pounds feet of torque. This edition is estimated to reach the windows late this month or early next month.
The 2011 BMW Active Hybrid 7 is equipped with an advanced hybrid drive system that generates 455 horsepower and 516 pounds feet of torque. This new edition will be teamed with a leading internal combustion engine with electric motors to generate a powertrain that will create a benchmark for performance and efficiency. It is expected that this new edition will be available for sale by the spring of 2010.
BMW is also set to show off its Vision Efficient Dynamic Concept car which was unveiled during the September 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show. The concept that BMW would like to point out is that an eco friendly car can also offer the superb performance and dynamics of a sports car. This new edition has been conceptualized as 2×2 seater with plug in hybrid technology. This fabulous car is designed in manner to offer a blend of the performance of a BMW M vehicle and fuel economy of a compact hatchback car.
The engineers have worked hard to make this combination possible. It is estimated that this model would sprint from zero to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds with a top speed of 155mph. The new hybrid edition would be designed to offer a fuel economy of 62.6 mpg.

I dont mind prestige vehicles going green as this seems to be the consensus, as long as prestige, ie BMW, Maserati, Porsche, BMW don’t give compromise the brilliant engineering and development over the past 50 years.
It is very nice news, i think that all auto company have to foresee results of destroying environment with their products and to spend time about creating hybrid cars.

I agree with the above comment. This is something which every automobile company should take an initiative, specially when global warming is being an warning for everyone.
A very good project taken up by BMW of producing hybrid cars. Its going to be so efficient in future when Fuel prices are going to be sky high!
