There are spy images of this new edition which is recognized as the 2010 Alfa Romeo Giulietta. The new images reveal details about its interior cabin.

The 2010 Alfa Romeo Giulietta will replace the Alfa Romeo 147 hatchback; however unlike the current 147 edition this edition will only be available as a five door. This Giuliette edition will compete against the likes of new Ford Focus  and Volkswagen Golf.

This new edition will offer option of various powertrain which will generate an output ranging between 120 and 170 horsepower.  The company plans to introduce a high performance 230 horsepower edition soon after the initial edition is launched.  This engine would be teamed with a five speed or six speed manual transmission and will also offer the option of new dual clutch automatic option.

To offer a good performance this edition will be equipped with MacPherson strut suspension set up in the front and a new multilink design at the rear end.

It is expected that the Giulietta will be seen in the showroom sometime next year. The production of this edition will take place locally as the platform supporting the car Fiat’s C- Evo architecture will be used for the Chrysler sedan that will be built in the US plant.

Alfa Romeo has gleefully revealed its official tile. The new edition will be known as ‘2010 Alfa Romeo Giulietta’. There are rumors that the company had proposed that the new edition would be called the ‘Milano’ but the name had to be swapped due to a dispute between the Alfa Romeo workers in Milan and Fiat. The workers were upset as the company had shut down its operations in Milan where it was founded ninety nine years ago but still wanted to use the Milano name for its latest edition.

The new 2010 Alfa Romeo Giulietta will be available in a five door edition and will compete against Ford Focus and VW Golf.

The Giulietta will hone an impressive silhouette with a new multi link design at the rear. It is expected that the new edition will offer options of turbocharged engines which will generate between 120 horsepower and 170 horsepower.  It would be teamed with five speed and six speed manual transmission and plans to later introduce the new dual clutch automatic option. The company also proposes to launch a high performing 230hp engine very soon. The new Giulietta will feature a Macpherson strut suspension set up in the front.

All car buffs that are eagerly waiting for its debut in US will have to wait till early 2011.

Alfa Romeo is working hard on updating this edition. This new edition will be released in late 2011 donning the 169 title. This next gen model will be designed on the lines of the new Mito hatchback and will be aimed directly at the Cadillac CTS, BMW 5 series, and Mercedes Benz E class.

The engineers are working hard to overcome all the criticisms of the 166 edition (especially the lack of rear wheel drive platform.)  It is expected that the new 169 will borrow the rear wheel drive platform from the 2011 Chrysler 300 to offer a more dynamic and finest driving experience. There are rumors that the 4.7 liter V8 engine which produces 450 hp from the 8C Competizone supercar  could be reserved for a high performance GTA model that could go up against the E63 AMG and M5.

The Spider

It will be equipped with fuel efficient  2.2 liter four cylinder engine in the  base edition  and would offer option of 3.2 liter  V6  edition from 159 Sedan edition. This two door version is expected to be smaller and lighter than the 159 Sedan and the Spider.  The light weight body would offer better acceleration and handling.

There is news that the new edition will not get a new platform but will share Fiat’s C-Evo platform with the Lancia Delta and Alfa Romeo Bravo. It is expected that it will be equipped with a small four cylinder engine which would generate 120 hp. It would also offer options of 3.5 liter V6 engine which would deliver 265 horsepower.  There are rumors that after its debut the company will launch a GTA model like the MiTo’s recently unveiled version.

The company has designed two new models Milano and MiTO to meet the demand of the customers, and retain the existing customers by meeting their demands by offering different options. They have crafted the MiTO to meet the demands of the urban and youth while the Milano would cater to the affluent class who desire style and luxury.

The Automakers have placed a second thought as US has still not widely accepted the concept of hatchback cars even luxury makers like BMW And Mercedes produce  smaller luxury cars but do not target US for hatchback cars.

Sergio Cravero , CEO Alfa Romeo has revealed to the Italian newspaper LA Stampa that  they have plans to launch the Giulia in 2012. Giulia is believed to be the replacement to the European 159 and would be the first high volume car to return to the US market.

Americans are still in a pace to overcome the recession and at such times introducing the Giulia which would offer more headroom and space at a decent price would be a very practical move.
