The 2011 Chrysler 300 enters the market as Chryslers attempt to recreate the magic of their 300 sedan that they launched in 2005. But nothing is permanent and we know that, so as time passed the distinctive styling of the car became less distinctive and the customers’ interest waned from the car. This made the Chrysler think tank think a tad bit, and they came up with the 2011 Chrysler 300. And the good thing here is that, the 2011 Chrysler 300 might be a totally new car, but the car hasn’t lost the fragrance of the previous 300, and has all the positive traits of its precursor. The new 300 still has the retro-inspired styling, but the edges this time are a lot smoother, the windshield here has a more rakish angle and plenty of other exteriors of the car, like the lights, grille and trim have been refined to give it a sharper and classier appearance. So, the new 300 still is a good looking and attractive car, but for the model year 2011 it’s a lot more stylish.

What’s New for 2011 Chrysler 300 Coupe?

The 2011 Chrysler 300 gets a huge overhaul for the model year 2011. Though, the general exterior look and structure of the car is pretty much the same, but still every component of the car has been redesigned or has been revised.

Body Styling and Features

The 2011 Chrysler 300 comes in a single body style of a full-size sedan and is available in four trim levels viz., base, 300C, 300C AWD and Limited.

The 300c trim comes with all the equipments of Luxury Group in addition to a V8 engine, automatic high beams, upgraded brakes, a Garmin-sourced navigation system included in the Chrysler 300′s touchscreen infotainment interface which includes plenty of live information including the real-time traffic and automatic wipers. The touchscreen infotainment system is optional on Limited trims. The 300C could also be had with AWD and it also comes with all the features except for its 19 in wheels and all-wheel-drive.

Plenty of other packages are also available for all the trims except for the base 300 trim, and all the optional packages gets you plenty of features.

Under The Hood

The power for the base 2011 Chrysler 300 and the 300 Limited trim comes from a 3.6 ltr V6 engine which generates maximum power of 292 hp and 260 pounds-feet of maximum torque. The standard transmission on these two trims is a five speed automatic transmission, and the standard drive here is a rear-wheel drive. As per Chrysler, he engine is estimated to deliver maximum fuel efficiency of 18 mpg in city and 27 mpg in highways, which considering the power, size and comparatively less aerodynamic shape of the car is pretty impressive.

The hood of the Chrysler 300C conceals a 5.7 ltr Hemi V8 engine, which is good enough for generating maximum power of 363 hp and maximum torque of 394 pounds-feet. The standard drive and transmission here also is rear-wheel drive and the 5 speed automatic respectively, but you can get the car with an all-wheel-drive system. The estimated fuel efficiency for this car is 16 mpg in city and 25 mpg on highway with rear drive, the all-wheel-drive on the other hand delivers 15mpg and 23 mpg with AWD.

Safety Equipments:

All the 2011 Chrysler 300 comes equipped with an antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, a driver knee airbag, front airbags and side curtain airbags. The standard safety equipments includes rearview camera as well on all the trims except for the base. The SafetyTec Group is also available on all the trims except for the base 300, and it adds forward collision warning, rear cross-path detection system, rear and front parking sensors and a blind-spot warning system.

Verdict

The 2011 Chrysler 300 might look like the previous 300 in first look or might even give the impression of being the same, but its nothing like what it seems. The car has been given a major revamp, which makes it the car, which it always wanted to be, and that is a luxury sedan made for modern consumers in the market.

Pros:

The 2011 Chrysler 300 comes with immensely powerful and smooth engines; munificent features list; spacious interiors and versatile all-wheel-drive system.

Cons:

The 2011 Chrysler 300 suffers from bland interiors that not at all compromise with the flashy exteriors and conciliated visibility.

The all new 2011 Chrysler Town and Country are available in three different trims namely, LX, the premium Limited and Touring. All the three trims are nicely equipped, and it can be estimated from the fact that the base model comes with Stow ‘n Go system as its standard equipment, still many of the customers will want to step up to the midlevel Touring trim to prevail the additional amenities like power lift gate of the trim. The limited trim on the other hand comes with added luxuries such as heated 2nd row seating and an 8 way power front passenger seat.

The power for the LX trim of 2011 Chrysler Town and Country comes from a 3.3 ltr V6 engine which generates maximum power of 175 hp and is mated with a 4 speed automatic transmission. You can forget about engaging performance here, but if all you want is wind in your hair, room for four adults and a somewhat reasonable price tag, then don’t count the Sebring Convertible drop top out.

It’s interesting that the Chrysler Sebring convertible comes with two top choices: a vinyl soft top (available only on Limited trims) or a retractable hardtop. When you raise the top of the Convertible it easily mutes the wind noise and delivers functionality like coupe in inclement weather. The Sebring convertible also comes with a bizarrely huge trunk. So to sum up the introduction we would like to say that overlooking the performance shortcomings, the Sebring Convertible on a whole is a decent effort by Chrysler.

Features:

The Chrysler Sebring convertible LX gets a 4-cylinder engine, 16-inch steel wheels, a power vinyl soft top, power front seats, the Limited sedan’s stereo, complete power accessories and air-conditioning as its standard features and equipments. The Touring convertible on the other hand comes loaded with 2.7 ltr V6 engine, heated side mirrors, 17-inch alloy wheels (elective on LX), a cushioned center console having an armrest, stain-repellent cloth upholstery and a key fob having power-top controls (also elective on LX).

The Limited Chrysler Sebring convertible comes with a retractable hardtop, dual exhaust tips, the 3.5 ltr V6 engine, a windscreen, 18 in alloys, Boston Acoustics speakers, leather upholstery having heated front seats, automatic climate control, remote start and steering-wheel-mounted audio controls. Some of these features of the Limited can also be obtained on Touring as options. Some other convertible options depending on trim includes, foglamps, Bluetooth, a navigation system just as we’ve seen in sedan’s and a touchscreen stereo having digital music storage.

Engine:

The standard power source for the Limited Chrysler Sebring convertible is a 3.5 ltr V6 engine, which also is optional on Limited Sedan, and generates maximum power of 235 hp and 232 lb-ft of limited torque. The engine here is mated with a 6 speed automatic transmission. The Sebring Limited convertible powered by the 3.5 ltr V6 engine sprinted form 0 to 60 mph in 8.3 seconds.

Safety:

The safety equipments remains the same for all the Sebring and the Chrysler Sebring convertible comes loaded with 4 wheel antilock brakes, front-seat side airbags and active front head restraints, while the sedan on the other hand gets side curtain airbags. The optional safety equipments on the Limited and Touring trims and unavailable on the base LX is Stability control.

Verdict:

So finally we would like to say that the 2010 Chrysler Sebring convertible is a respectable car, particularly with its retractable hardtop, which is available.

But instead of leaving the auto market in grand style and boom, the 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser looks like leaving the market with a whimper. Rather than fitting the outgoing model with the potent turbocharged engine, that we’ve seen in earlier year the 2010 Chrysler is sending off the retro style wagon with its gasping usually aspirated base four-cylinder engine. The remaining features for 2010 model year also doesn’t fare any better, and for the model year 2010 the PT Cruiser the touring suspension, leather upholstery, upgraded stereo and Bluetooth have also been killed off.

The 2009 Chrysler Sebring is a mid size sedan which is priced at MSRP $20515- $35125. It competes with Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic and other larger options such as Ford Fusion. The 2009 Chrysler is a perfect choice relative to its competition especially with its available retractable hardtops. This car is perfect for all those who like to regularly go out on vacations and enjoy the sunshine.

Body style

The 2009 Chrysler Sebring is available in two body styles viz. sedan and convertible. They are available in three trim levels LX, Touring and Limited.  The Car has been designed with a jaded performance and giving it a body to match. Sebring has used different design elements from the hood to the back. There is a strong crease in the side doors and an arcing C-pillar that descends into a stubby rear deck.

The Sebring is not beautifully designed keeping in mind the expectation that was drawn on them, particularly on body styling seeing their perfectly designed Sebring’s predecessor. However the interiors are quite tastefully done. The passenger cabin is comfortable, attractive and well defined by clean, contemporary styling and a generous helping of metallic-looking trim. When we looked in detail we found that materials used were below average, with cheap plastics and hard surfaces. The Sebring’s odd styling makes this car very unappealing with the masses.

Features

The 2009 Chrysler sedan model includes all the standard features such as 16-inch steel wheels, air-conditioning, cruise control, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, full power accessories, a 60/40-split rear seat and a four-speaker audio system with a six-CD changer, an auxiliary audio jack and satellite radio. The convertible model features additional accessories such as power-operated vinyl soft top, six-way power front seats and a six-speaker stereo system. The limited model has a stand out feature which offers heated/cooled front cup holder that can warm beverages to 140 degrees or chill them to a near-freezing 35 degrees, remote start, heated front seats, and blue tooth known as U Connect.

From all the available features we found that the technology is as good as or better than anything in the class. The speakers supply crisp highs and great bass response and the nav screen was bright and simple to use. The new features that were included in 2009 Sebring models were aimable LED lighting (on the Touring model), an eight-way adjustable driver’s seat (Touring and Limited), and remote start (Limited).

Performance

The performance of Sebring is better than most if its competitors. They offer three engine choices a standard 2.4-liter, 173-horsepower four-cylinder; an optional 2.7-liter, 189-hp V-6; and an optional 3.5-liter, 235-hp V-6 coupled with a new six-speed automatic transaxle. We found the engine to be light on launching power but moves faster once it starts and can cope adequately with around town driving. The four cylinder Sebring’s performed well in city driving but runs out of power at highway speeds. While driving the vehicle we found that the four speed automatics shifts smoothly and kicks down quickly when necessary whereas the six-speed automatic is oddly geared, with a gaping ratio between first and second and a very close one between second and third We did not find the fuel economy very impressive in the 2009 Chrysler Sebring. Fuel economy is 21 mpg city/30 mpg highway and 24 mpg combined and on the Touring version fuel economy rated at 19/27/22 mpg; the convertible achieves 1 fewer mpg in each category. The brakes also did keep up to our expectation. In all versions of the Sebring the steering is direct if not razor-sharp, while the independent suspension is firm enough for a stable and secure feel during emergency situations and in tight corners. Overall the Chrysler’s performance did not offer much excitement.

Quality

The 2009 Chrysler Sebring is adequately spacious but does not match the expectation for quality .the Sebring has spacious interior space which is on par with the other mid size car class. They have sufficient leg space to rest your legs but you cannot make your legs roam. The back seats are nicely designed which can forward and open up to the trunk; the front passenger seat also folds flat for loading long objects inside the car for extra storage. We found that the quality of the material used was sturdy but not rich. It lacked fineness and richness that its competitors offer. The plastic which is used is of inferior quality and lacks the attractive looks to crate luxury. The directionally adjustable LED map lights also feels cheap The only strong point that we could figure out was that the ride quality was comfortable and composed.

Safety

The 2009 Chrysler Sebring offers good safety. They offer features such as four-wheel antilock brakes and front-seat side airbags, while the sedan adds side curtain airbags. Stability and traction controls are standard on the Touring and Limited, but not available on the base LX. In the various tests conducted the sedan scored a perfect five stars for frontal crash protection, five stars for front side protection and four stars for rear side protection while the convertible scored four stars for frontal crash driver protection and five stars in all other categories.

Conclusion

We can conclude that the 2009 Chrysler Sebring is mid size sedan which is virtually outdone by its competitors. The main attractive feature was the smooth ride that it offers. It is comfortable to seat four adults though a little tight for five. The Sebring comes with a lot of useful features like optional convertible hardtop, big convertible trunk, versatile entertainment options, available all-wheel drive which are worth appreciating.

The main drawbacks that we noted were the interiors were not very pleasant. We found a lack of refinement with four cylinders. The performance was also very disappointing keeping the expectation from Chrysler in mind.

The 2009 Chrysler Town and Country car which is priced at MSRP $26340- $36780 is very exciting and innovative like a mini van which is designed for the modern family transportation. These minivans are available in three trim levels viz. LX, Touring and Top line.  They have been designed particularly for families who offer more weightage to space and practicality. At times when automakers are moving away from the mini van segment, Chrysler has focused on improving its family-friendly offering in the hopes of drawing buyers away from new entries from the likes of Toyota, Honda etc.

Body Style:

The 2009 Chrysler Town and country Car is designed according to the 1980 styling roots outside with an amalgamation of modern and upscale touches inside. We would rate the new shape of this model as an average, as it is not overly pleasing but keeps away from complete boredom.

The exterior body styles for all the models are similar, but there are still some noticeable differences. The touring model has body-colored moldings, fog lights and 16-inch alloy wheels whereas the other models get chrome moldings and 17-inch wheels. We can say that the body is well styled in terms with minivan traditionalists with upright windshield, blocky headlights, and no-nonsense tail.

We found the interior body style has minimal changes in contrast to the 2008 version. The interiors are impressive and controls are plainly marked and work as expected, the gauges are also simple to locate and easy to read. The interiors have dollops of faux wood trim, chrome accents and an analog clock which brighten things up but overall they are quite plain, simple and functional.

Features

This minivan model has all the desirable features and makes it stand above its competitors. It sums up with all high tech and kid friendly features which makes it the most desirable family car. They are ideally designed keeping the requirements of the family in mind. It features under floor storage, multiple 12-volt outlets, grocery bag hooks behind the front seats, power sliding doors etc. which are the need for the family on go. The standard features that are included are 16-inch steel wheels, full power accessories, front and rear air-conditioning, cruise control, Stow ‘n Go second-row seating, stain-repellent cloth upholstery, a tilt steering wheel, a flip-down kiddy mirror and a CD/MP3 player. There are many optional features to choose from like rear seat entertainment system with two wireless headphones, satellite radio and a touch screen stereo interface with 30GB of digital music storage, live satellite TV for rear seats and 9-inch overhead dual DVD screens with swiveling third-row monitor. The features are perfect to keep the kids happy which would be another feather to their cap.

Another new feature that the Chrysler 2009 car includes is the rain-sensing windshield wipers; voice-recognition and Bluetooth hands-free cell phone connectivity. The standard and optional features that are available with this model are so exemplary that we would score a full ten on ten.

Performance

The 2009 Chrysler models are available in three different engine types with the options of .3-liter V6 good for 175 horsepower and 205 pound-feet of torque, if you wish to choose the powerful options you can choose the.8-liter V6 that produces 197 hp and 230 lb-ft of torque and a more modern 4.0-liter V6 making 251 hp and 259 lb-ft of torque. If you choose the 4.0 liter option it would propel from 0-60mph in 9 seconds which is rather quick. It has been
noted that the base model has four speed automatic whereas the both up level engines have six-speed automatics.

We found the fuel economy for the base model to be disappointing with its output at 17 mpg city/24 mpg combined and 19 mpg combined. The up level engines had different power outputs but still they offered the same fuel economy at 16 city/23 highway and 18 combined.

The overall comfort and performance is good and maintains a perfect balance between highway comfort and around town responsiveness. We found hat it delivered a natural and comfortable feel even at higher speeds and even the larger bumps were taken with greater poise. The brakes were also found to be very effective and equally impressive.

Quality

The main drawback that we could figure out in the 2009 Chrysler Town and country car was the interior quality. This model offer voluminous storage space and adequate passenger comfort. They can comfortably seat seven passengers as the seats are well designed to offer complete comfort even while traveling on long hauls. The seats are well equipped to fold into the floor to offer more storage space while traveling.

The storage is perfectly designed but the interiors are very disappointing. The materials quality are very cheap and do not match the level offered by its competitors. The interiors are well assembled but the hard plastic surfaces and low materials dominate the cabin which looses its exclusivity.

Safety

Safety is an important feature that is considered while buying family cars. The 2009 Chrysler Town and country car has taken all points in consideration and has safely passed all safety tests that were conducted. They have scored the highest possible scores from both NHTSA and the IIHS. They have scored five stars in in both the frontal offset and side impact tests. They include curtain side airbags which cover all seating rows, ABS, traction control,   and antiskid system. They also feature optional features such as sonar ParkSense, which sends an audible alarm when things are behind the van, and the Parkview rearview camera.

The only drawback that we noted was when both screens of dual DVD entertainment system are in use, the rear view gets compromised. Otherwise the visibility is very good in all directions.

Conclusion

We concluded that 2009 Chrysler Town and country car is a very good and useful family car taking care of the entertainment and safety of kids. They offer good storage space and can be ideally used for long hauls. The flexible seating arrangements are an added advantage.

The main drawbacks that we noted were substandard interiors, the Stow and GO seats were also not very comfortable.
