Electric vehicles are transforming the auto industry

Electric vehicles will slowly be taking over from the standard ones and experts say that the transformation will begin around this autumn with cars like Chevrolet Volt and Nissan Leaf. The cost of these vehicles is not that high either which means people can easily afford it. They cost much less than the high end Ferrari ones or the glorified golf carts. Volkswagen AG’s chairman, Carl Hahn say that the highlight of such electric cars are the acceleration of development of combustion internal engine. We think that is a bit exaggerated. There have been tougher regulations for the fuel emissions and efficiency in countries from US to China to Europe. They are making the automakers to squeeze in more efficiency from the engines.

There are some elements in a car which drain of the power, they are called parasitic losses and they don’t help you to move your car. It will compete along with the EV’s motor for battery power. Parts suppliers and automakers are working hard to increase the efficiency of the parts which are electrically powered like the air conditioner compressors. You will thus get better efficiency in the components.

The EVs also don’t have the roar of standard engines. This will go well with the customers since they will have a very silent environment. There is research being made for the noise insulation suppliers. EVs are not on the road yet but they have already started lifting images of the companies which plan to go ahead and make them.
