Porsche is already working hard to launch its next gen 911 edition. The facsimile of these cars are seen being tested on the streets which mean that the car is already ready for production. The prototypes which were seen feature LED indicators on the head and tail lamps.
Porsche’s chief of Research and Development, Wolfgang Durheimer revealed that the new edition would be more competent and unique in every manner. He said that the external silhouette would bear gradual changes but the hood could feature some new changes.
The 2012 Porsche 911 edition is internally coded as project 991 and will feature some major changes from its long running classical edition. The new changes are noticeable and will sport a more collapsible bumper with changes in the nose section of the car. The rear end of the car will also be changed for aerodynamic improvement.
The slightly longer body with more upright headlights and side mirrors position at the sides of the doors instead of the windows are some of the distinguishing features which offer a clear difference between the new model and the current 997 edition.
It is expected that the new edition will include extensive use of carbon fiber materials parts to keep its body light and active aerodynamics which would assist in reacting to how fast the car is going and what it is doing. There is a possibility that the new edition would feature adjustable front and rear spoiler and dynamically opening and closing air intake.
There is no news about what the company has in store for its engine line up but it is expected that the new edition would feature a flat six engine range with minimal updates to keep up to the requirement of emission levels and offer a good performance at the same time.
There are rumors that the new edition will offer an option of four cylinder engine to the 911 line up. Till we have confirmed news about what Porsche has in mind the auto industry would be surrounded by a galore of rumors and expectation.
Keep tuned and we will be back with confirmed news about this new edition powertrain.
