First Look: Nissan Glider At The 2009 Tokyo Motor Show

Nissan unveiled its latest land Glider which is designed for a future city EV commuter. The Land Glider is an electrically driven car with an interesting tilting car concept like the leaf.

The Land glider is extremely small, just 122 inches long and a mere 43 inches across which makes it easy to drive and park. It is fun and funky and takes very little space on the roads.

The Land Glider is well crafted by designers and can comfortably seat two passengers beneath a glass canopy. It is teamed with a pair of electric motors which are linked to an underfloor lithium ion battery pack which assists the drive.

The body and tires are well crafted and leans up to an angle of 17 degrees which offers a sensation of riding a motorcycle.

This idea has been used before, but the engineers at Nissan need to be applauded for the commendable work done.

The engineers have crafted such a beautiful methodology that when you take a curve an array of sensors check vehicle speed, steering angle and yaw rate and accordingly calculate on the angle of the lean that would be required. When we turn the steering, that has been designed like the one that is used in aircrafts, the cabin tilts instantly.

Nissan has proudly stated that this is not a mere concept but a clear direction to how a future small car from Nissan would look and how it could be helpful in congested cities.
