Hyundai Equus – The Luxury Sedan Will Be Available By End 2010



It is confirmed that Hyundai‘s luxury sedan the Equus will be seen on the roads in the US starting in late 2010. It is designed at a lower price tag as a rival to renowned luxury cars like BMW- 7 series, Lexus LS, and Mercedes Benz S class.

There were early reports that indicated that the Eqqus would be priced at an estimate cost of $ 60,000 in the US. Lexus LS would be a tough competitor to Equus which is priced at $64700 which would include shipping. In South Korea the Eqqus would be priced at $50000 while the fully loaded version with all the high tech features would be priced $81000.

John Krafcik, Hyundai Motor America president and CEO said that the new version was displayed at the New York Auto show and had received excellent response. The company has sent a fleet at various places around the country to capture responses from dealers and consumers. The CEO added that they were happy to receive positive response from the consumers.

The market reaction was similar to the one that was received by the award winning Genesis. Genesis has also won the coveted 2009 North American Car of the Year and Hyundai is hoping to achieve the same once they launch their car.

The Equus has the luxury sedan size with 16.9 feet in length and 6.2 feet in width and 4.9 feet in height. The Eqqus will be equipped with 3.8 liter Lambda V6 engine and will generate 286 horsepower while another trim would be equipped with 4.6 liter Tau version which will generate 361 horsepower. The premium version of the Equus will be equipped with 5.0 liter Tau V8 version with along wheel base.

It is presumed that this version will offer options such as tilting rear seats, with TV screen in the rear seats.

The exact specification and options that this model will offer will be disclosed only closer to the launch date.
