Introduction: 2011 Mercedes Benz SLK



The SLK roadster has been a complete success from the time it has been launched and it has won many appraisals for parent company Mercedes Benz.  The SLK has received a mid cycle lift but its design seems to have lost the lust. The new design for the SLK is in the works, however this new model has been spotted numerous times on the streets of Germany where it is being test drived. There are a lot of details that have been gathered from the prototypes that are seen on the streets of Germany.

This third generation of the roadster will have a sporty and less ornamental look. If news has to be believed the new model will have a stylish body with slightly longer front end and an extended trunk which would increase the cargo capacity, they will also be equipped with longer wheelbase to offer more stability. This new version will be loved by all those who love to make weekend trips or trips to the Golf course.

They will be equipped with direct injection 3.5 liter V6 engine. After the debut they plan to come with 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine which would generate 300 horsepower and 350 horsepower. The AMG model starts out with 6.2 liter V8 engine which will be replaced by twin-turbo 3.6-liter V-8 generating over 470 horsepower. However these reports are not yet confirmed by Mercedes or AMG officials.

Mercedes has also discussed of introducing the diesel engines in the GLK and C class versions in the US but there are no indications of using them in the SLK version.

The interiors are quite exemplary and include lane-departure warning, active cruise control, two-speed neck and-back warmer, heated and ventilated seats with massage, and night vision.s

The newer features that will be included are 18 inch wheels, bigger brakes, variable ratio steering, and adjustable dampers. They will also be equipped with chassis which are tuned for more grip and quicker response.

The next gen SLK was proposed to be released in the late 2010 but the 2011 release date makes the debut date a little later. It is expected that the pricing for the current model in the US would start under $46,000.

    I think that the Mercedes is dispicible….. all Mercedes are, but this is an outrage… I would much rather a BMW. They are much more luxurious and much better than Mercedes.
