Its here: 2010 Opel Meriva

The automotive segment has been able to get a glimpse of the GM next gen Opel Meriva compact MPV. When we compare the Meriva concept car which was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show held in 2008 the images that have been captured reflect the offbeat style rear opening door and adjustable seats that all enthusiasts were looking forward too.

The rear hinged door application was earlier seen in Rolls Royce Phantom, Rolls Royce Ghost and Mazda RX8. However in the Opel Meriva the front and rear door open independently and does not need the passenger seated in the rear seats to sit behind the door opening.

The 2010 Opel Meriva will be powered by both turbocharged gasoline and diesel engine and will generate outputs ranging from 75 to 140 horsepower. There are rumors that GM is in the process of launching a fuel efficient EcoFlex model.

Gm plans to debut this edition at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. The company is all set to start production of the Meriva edition at a plant in Saragossa, Spain after its debut in March 2010.

The 2010 Opel Meriva is an important venture for General Motors globally. The current Meriva edition is all sold all over Europe and some parts of South America under the Chevy flag. There are rumors that Meriva would also cater to other markets globally. However it is unlikely that this new edition will adorn the streets of US.
