The dust has just settled at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show and all auto makers and enthusiasts are geared up for the 2010 Chicago Auto Show which will be held on 10 February. We have already started getting information about concept cars that automakers are all set to launch at the spacious grounds of McCormack Hall.
We have received the first teaser image for the Kia Ray Concept car. The Kia brand is owned by Hyundai and has received good response from the US market. They have made repute in manufacturing small and sporty cars which are well equipped and stylish and above all the prices are affordably low. Kia’s success can be measured from its rapidly growing sales. In spite of collapse in the market in 2009 the Hyundai and Kia sales together actually increased in the declining market scenario.
Kia says Ray is designed to exhibit the designers approach for packaging a plug in hybrid. In this case it looks like the edition is a hatchback or a sporty coupe with a full width strip of LED lights.
The ray concept is designed at Kia Design Centre America which will most likely use the Hyundai corporate hybrid hardware. This hybrid configuration will make its first appearance in the 2011 Hyundai Sonata Blue Drive hybrid sedan.
The 2010 Detroit Auto Show witnessed the plug in version of the Blue Drive system in the Hyundai Blue Will Concept. This configuration will offer 40 miles of range with its 16–Kilowatt-hour lithium polymer cell battery pack which is teamed with a gasoline engine.
Last year Kia launched the Elantra LPI Hybrid sedan which is the world’s first hybrid which uses lithium polymer cell.
For more details about this upcoming edition, stay tuned and we shall offer more updates and images at the earliest.
