Jan 25, 2010 | Comments 5
The automotive segment is abuzz with news and rumors about the next gen C7 Chevrolet Corvette. There are rumors abound ranging from the possibility of all wheel drive powertrain to the arrival of a dual clutch version.
It is expected that this new edition will be unveiled as 2013 model and will be released by the end of 2012.
There are doubts raised about this edition as there have been reports about General Motors critical financial situation which has forced them to put the C7 Corvette on hold. Tom Wallace, previous Corvette vehicle line executive had stated that GM was working on the next gen edition and there were some minor changes that were coming soon. He had acknowledged that the layout and the hardware of the new edition would be determined on the basis of CAFÉ regulations. However his retirement last year has weakened the credibility of his comments.

General Motors product design head Ed Welburn has revealed that new next gen Corvette will have some vintage styling cues and will sport a split rear window which suggests that the project is ongoing.
It is expected that the new edition would offer better fuel economy and would be equipped with CTS-V’s LSA powertrain. It will also be equipped with a dual clutch gearbox to keep up with its competitors.
Just like the C6 the C7 will have an improvement and redesign of the fabulous Corvette platform. It is likely that the new updated edition would feature better performance.
However the only point of concern is the price tag that would be attached to it. With the addition of high tech elements, and machinery it is expected that the price would definitely be on the rise.
Expect to get more details and news about this new venture before this edition actually debuts in a year or two.
