Sneak Preview: 2012 Mercedes Benz ML class

In these days of tough competition each and every automaker is working hard to offer the best product which offers a perfect combination of good looks and excellent performance. To achieve this goal each automaker is open even to parts sharing to achieve maximum efficiency.

Mercedes is also working at developing a Mercedes Benz ML class SUV which would offer cues from the G class and R class along with a more forward looking powerful engine.

It is estimated that this next gen edition will be available only in the middle of2011. The images of the prototypes reveal an overall smaller body than the current edition though its wheel base remains unchanged.

2012 Mercedes Benz ML Class

There are rumors that Mercedes is working at manufacturing a diesel electric hybrid ML class however a gasoline electric hybrid edition similar to the ML450 hybrid is already under works. There are chances that the company  may decide to unveil a plug in variant of the  ML hybrid  which would feature an 80  hp electric motor  that will be teamed with  a twin turbo charged, direct injected  3.5 liter  V6  engine . This engine would be capable of travelling up to 18 miles on electric power alone.

It is expected that the next gen car will share its parts and underpinnings from the G class and R class successor which would assist in maintaining economies of scale while maintaining separate identities.

Mercedes has decided to equip the new SUV with chassis that are found in 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee which is one of the lasting legacies from the now obsolete Daimler Chrysler.

Mercedes is planning to design this line up as a 4×4 edition while paying greater attention on the efficiency rather than performance. They also plan to power the European model with a 2.2 liter four cylinder diesel engine which would generate 204 horsepower. They further plan to introduce a V6 diesel engine which would deliver 225 horsepower and a V6 gasoline engine which would deliver 333 horsepower. The AMG edition will feature a twin turbocharger direct injection V8 engine which would generate an estimated 570 horsepower.

Stay tuned and we will update all our readers with finer details about this new edition.
