Fisker is ready with its Karma luxury Plug in hybrid sedan which will be available for sale by the end of the year. This luxury Plug in Hybrid will be priced at $87,900.
The New Hybrid edition is designed by its engineer in the US and will feature an innovative twin motor propulsion system which would produce 408 hp and 959 pound feet of torque. It has been known that Fisker plans to start production of the Karma in Finland.
The company plans to launch another new venture by 2012. They plan to launch a new mid size plug in hybrid sedan with a similar powertrain like the Karma. However, the company has announced that its new edition would be produced in US only.
Fisker has announced today that it has chosen the old General Motors Wilmington plant in Delaware. This plant has also been witness to many other production units like Pontiac Solstice, Opel GT range, and Saturn Sky.
The company proposes to build 75,000 to 100,000 vehicles per year. This will enable them to create opportunities for 2000 factory jobs and more than 3000 supplier and vendor jobs. The company plans to start production of this new edition by 2014.
It has been estimated that Fisker will pay $ 18 million for the plant to Motor Liquidation Co. The company has budgeted to spend $ 175 million to update the existing plant for the next year. They have already made plans and their loan amount of $528 million from the US Department of energy has already been sanctioned.
